2017 and 2016 Sedans Coming to Showrooms

It's well known that trucks and SUVs are the best sellers in America, but let's take a look at some of new entries in the 2016 sedan marketplace, including a few 2017 models soon arriving in dealer showrooms.

As the first of a new-generation of vehicles built on an all-new platform, the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio promises to bring race-inspired performance, advanced technologies, seductive Italian style, and an exhilarating driving experience to the premium midsize sedan segment. Built in Italy, the all-new Giulia is powered by a Ferrari-derived 505-horsepower, 2.9-liter bi-turbo V-6 promising acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 191 mph, and will arrive with a starting price around $70,000.

Audi showrooms will host a trio of new performance vehicles: an all-new R8, RS7 performance, and S8 plus editions.

Promising to be the fastest and most powerful Audi of all time, the second-generation 2017 Audi R8 supercar offers a choice of two high-performance powertrain variants: the 540-horsepower, 5.2-liter V-10 or the 610-hp, V-10 Plus.

The new 2016 Audi RS7 performance boasts more power and spunk thanks to a 605-hp engine for enthusiasts who seek track-tested performance, along with a striking RS four-door super coupe design with Audi's premium refinement.

Finally, the 2016 Audi S8 plus luxury sedan takes the indulgent S8 model line to a higher level of performance thanks to a powerful 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that boasts 605 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. If you have to ask how much these high-performance Audis cost, you can't afford them.

As one of Hyundai's all-time best-selling models, the Elantra now enters its sixth generation. Slightly larger inside and out, the newest 2017 Elantra boasts a bold aerodynamic design and sophisticated styling; two all-new powertrains promising enhanced fuel economy, better ride quality, and noise insulation; and comprehensive safety features including lane keep assist, blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert and lane change assist, a rearview camera, and available automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Jaguar has updated its XE compact sports sedan with three powertrain options, available all-wheel-drive, and new infotainment features including an Apple Watch App, Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices, and a suite of connected services through its tablet-style 10.2-inch touchscreen InControl Touch Pro system. In addition to Jaguar's already impressive range of advanced driver assistance systems, the refreshed XE gains lane keep assist, adaptive speed limiter, and driver condition monitor, a feature that can detect and warn against driver fatigue. The 2017 Jaguar XE will start at $34,900 when it arrives at dealerships in the spring.

Lincoln offers a refresh of its MKZ midsize luxury sedan with all new sheet metal and dramatic new grille, a more nimble ride, improved interior, and more safety features -- Lincoln boasts the 2017 MKZ will be the brand's first car with automatic braking collision avoidance. Promising three drivetrains including a hybrid, at the top of the line is a new twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine boasting 400 horsepower. It's expected to arrive in dealerships in summer 2016.

Nissan is touting an all-new version of its popular Sentra compact sedan upgraded for 2016 model year with a refreshed interior styled with soft-touch materials and additional safety and technology features. Nissan says the Sentra's complete makeover includes a new exterior redesign that better reflects the company's new design language, bringing it closer in look and feel to the new 2016 Maxima and redesigned 2016 Altima. Emphasizing a long list of standard features at an affordable price, the 2016 Nissan Sentra Starts at $16,780.

Volkswagen adds an R-Line variant of the 2016 Passat midsize sedan, featuring a more aggressive appearance with unique rocker panels, a distinctive black-accented front bumper, a new rear diffuser, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Under the hood, three engine choices include a 1.8-liter TSI turbocharged four-cylinder, a 280-hp 3.6-liter V-6 VR6, and the 2.0-liter TDI turbocharged four-cylinder diesel.
