BMW's 2010 5 Series Sport Wagon maintains its place at the forefront of the midsize luxury class.
For 2010, the BMW 5 Series gets two significant changes: the addition of BMW's 4th-generation iDrive system on vehicles equipped with the optional on-board Navigation system and the new availability of an M Sport Package to create an unmistakable enthusiast attitude for most 5 Series models.
The 2010 5 Series wagon features the 300-horsepower twin-turbo inline-6. The 535i Sports Wagon engine resides in a chassis that includes aluminum suspension; large-diameter disc brakes; performance tires on 17-, 18- or 19-inch wheels; and options such as Active Steering and Active Roll Stabilization. With either traditional rear-drive or xDrive all-wheel-drive, the 5 Series sets the standard for handling, ride and braking in its class.
Technological features flourish throughout the 2010 5 Series. Among these is BMW's Lane Departure Warning system, a camera-based system that monitors lane placement and discreetly notifies the driver via mild steering wheel vibration of any motions that might indicate an inadvertent lane change.
All 5 Series models now offer the availability of an M Sport Package, which includes an Anthracite headliner, an exterior aerodynamic package with Shadowline trim, and M-specific wheels, door sills, footrest, gearshift lever, and steering wheel.
