The 2019 Cadillac Escalade's 10-speed automatic transmission and bold interior and exterior color options raise the bar int e full-size luxury SUV segment.

On the market for 20 years, the 2019 Escalade offers 65 percent more horsepower with 52 percent greater EPA-estimated highway fuel economy than the original 1999 model (2WD models compared): 15 mpg (1999) versus 23 mpg (2019).

Escalade performance is highlighted by the powerful and efficient 6.2-liter V8 engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The 10-speed transmission has four simple gear sets and six clutches: two brake clutches and four rotating clutches. That's only one more clutch than the earlier eight-speed, despite having two more forward gears, contributing further to the compact packaging, while also improving spin losses to enhance fuel efficiency.
